Jennifer Lopez recently opened up about her divorce from ex-husband, Marc Anthony.

Lopez and Anthony, who have two children together, split two years ago, and in a new interview, Lopez is speaking out about how she has grown since experiencing the devastating end to her marriage.

"I went through a tremendous low," Lopez, 44, told PEOPLE Magazine. "But I wouldn't change anything [about my past] because it made me who I am."

Following her breakup from actor Ben Afleck in Jan. 2004, Lopez began dating Anthony, who had been a friend of hers for years. In June of that same year, the couple were married. On Nov. 7, 2007, during the final night of their co-headlining tour, Lopez and Anthony confirmed they were expecting their first child, and on Feb. 22, 2008, they welcomed twins, son Maximilian David and daughter Emme Maribel.

Three years after welcoming their twins, Lopez and Anthony announced their split and in April 2012, Anthony officially filed for divorceAfter the split, Lopez took a long, hard look in the mirror and began to reevaluate her views on relationships.

"As women we can sometimes give ourselves away," Lopez explained. "I was certainly guilty of that for some time. Now I realize I am good on my own, so now I can share my life with somebody."

After recovering from the split, Lopez began dating Casper Smart and has been with him ever since. However, when it comes to unconditional love, Lopez looks to her twins.

"I just feel like I went through a real growth spurt as a human being [when I became a mother]. Having my babies allowed me to realize what real unconditional love was," Lopez added.
