Jessica Simpson has opened up about her fashion success in a new interview.

In the last several years, Simpson has turned her clothing and accessories brand, the Jessica Simpson Collection, into a billion-dollar empire, and on Thursday, she appeared at the Forbes' Women's Summit, where she discussed her recipe for success in an interview with Steve Forbes.

“I think my brand has surpassed my name and my celebrity,” Simpson said of her line, via PEOPLE Magazine, adding that she, in comparison to other celebrity designers, has had more exposure to fashion – and to different body types. “I think I understand women. I’ve been every size on the planet, and I think beyond New York and LA.”

Simpson initially launched the Jessica Simpson Collection in 2006 as a shoe collaboration with Nine West co-founder Vince Camuto. However, due the success of the project, Simpson began adding on with different items, including clothing, handbags, sunglasses, accessories, jewelry and fragrances.

With her wedding to fiancé Eric Johnson quickly approaching, Simpson is excited to wear her dream dress, and to be in her dream body. Currently at her goal weight, Simpson explained that she doesn't put too much emphasis on her actual weight.

In the interview, Simpson revealed that although her weight has gone up and down, she now chooses to live for herself. “Tune out the world and tune into you,” Simpson said. “I don’t let others define me for me.”

As for her goal for her clothing line, Simpson added, “I want to make every woman confident in what they’re wearing.”
