Sony Entertainment’s Annie and Fury were victims of hacking and are openly shared online

The remake of the hit musical, Annie, and the Brad Pitt starrer, Fury, were one of the five Sony movies that was hacked and were shared over the internet this week. The perpetrators were North Korean hackers in response to a movie starring James Franco and Seth Rogen.

The cyber-attack happened this week and had whacked Sony Entertainment's computer mainframe which renders laptops and PC's useless and staff are working off on whiteboards for the moment.

The reason for the cyber-attack was said to be because of the upcoming Franco-Rogen starrer The Interview. The movie is about two journalists who were recruited by the CIA to assassinate North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

According to the Daily Mail, the Pyongyang government had written a letter to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon condemning the movie as an 'undisguised sponsoring of terrorism, as well as an act of war'.  North Korean representatives at the UN cannot be reached for a comment.

Annie, is a remake of the 1982 film and stars Jamie Foxx, Rose Byrne and Cameron Diaz. The movie is set to premiere on December 19.

Fury, on the other hand, is a World War II movie which was shown on October 17 and stars Brad Pitt.

Both movies were openly traded and shared online. The other three movies were Mr. Turner, Still Alice and To Write Love on Her Arms.

The computer system of Sony went down on Monday and before the screen turns black, a red skull and the phrase 'Hacked By #GOP,' was displayed. GOP means Guardians of Peace, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Several A-list actors were also victims of the hacking, that includes the actors' passports, their bank details, salaries for film appearances, their password information and also email correspondences. The actors mentioned were Jonah Hill, Cameron Diaz and Angelina Jolie, according to a Reddit thread.

In a statement issued by the website Re/Code, they were suspecting that someone is acting in behalf of North Korea and it could have been China. This suspicion came out when a link to North Korea had not been found but was nevertheless ruled out.

The hacking and computer infestation was acknowledge by Sony on Tuesday.
