Prince William and Kate Middleton had a memorable visit to New York City this week not just for themselves but for the people, especially a group of disadvantaged adolescents.

The Door in NYC teamed up with the CityKids Foundation in a performance at the educational center on Dec. 9.

After the Duke and Duchess visited the National September 11 Memorial and Museum in Lower Manhattan, the couple watched young girls and boys perform hip-hop-style dancing and a musical routine where one man has caught Prince William's attention.

According US Weekly, the Prince had offered help to take Steven Prescod's story to the world stage after being impressed with the young man's "powerful, moving show" about his father's incarceration.

Prescod was eventually taken aback by the royalty's warm response and said, "William said he wanted to help me put this together. He gave me his contact number and said to reach out to him. They brought me hope. I had a low period in my life and never in a million years did I expect I would be performing for the Duke and Duchess."

The royal couple didn't fail to compliment the rest of the act telling the entire group that, "It was an amazing performance and should be in the West End."

According to Julie Shapiro of The Door, the Duke of Cambridge was "really impressed with the young people and that they showed great confidence." The Duchess herself had "made me feel that wherever you come from you should not let that determine who you're going to be. We can be what we want to be. It makes me feel like you are going in the right direction." says 19-year-old dancer, Daniella Auggosto.

Apart from giving the performers a warm congratulations, the royal couple also had a mini-chat with the entertainers.

Apparently, it's not about being lucky, it's about being worth it!
