Closing the year in a good way is a feat for actress, Nicole Kidman. The Paddington star shares in the Australian premiere of her film that she felt good about closing the year by making people smile. It was not a good year for the Australian actress as her family recently experienced a tragic loss, losing her father, clinical psychologist, Antony Kidman, to heart attack last August. "I hadn't made a film that had made people feel good for a long time. I'd made films that are darker in tone. So, it's really nice to be able to make a film where you can say: "yeah, bring your kids'," the actress shared.

Kidman shares that it has been "really, really, really hard" on her personal end and that family tragedy led her to see this year as her least favorite year as of date. However the actress further shares that she tries to not be ungrateful because of one incident saying that she was "grateful to be alive".

In terms of her career, the year 2014 also proved to be a challenged as her earlier film, Oliver Dahan's biopic, Grace of Monaco, was received well by critics in Cannes last February. Her recent film, the screen adaptation of the well-loved children's book of Michael Bond, where she plays the role of a villainous taxidermist named Millicent, was given a warm welcome and topped the UK box office.

When it comes to roles, the mother of two and the wife to Keith Urban admitted that that she took on the role to create a film for her children, she admitted that she was the type of woman who sees the appeal of antagonists.

Kidman hopes that Paddington will receive an equal amount of positive feedback as it had in the UK.

The film is directed by Paul King. Paddington will premiere on Australia on December 11 and on January at the US.
