"I just wanted to be clear and honest about why I would be missing the Unbroken events in the next few days, which is that I found out last night that I have chicken pox," Angelina Jolie told fans via a Youtube video message uploaded by Universal Picture.

In the video message, Jolie who is seen wearing a white tank top, and with pink spots speckle already visible on her face, neck and upper body, added: "I will be home itching and missing everyone. And I can't believe it cause this film means so much to me." Jolie worked on Unbroken, which she also produced, for two years.

Jolie directed the upcoming film adaptation of Laura Hillenbrand's book Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption, a true story about WWII hero and Olympic athlete Louis Zamperini who survived a plane crash in the Pacific, spent 47 days drifting on a raft, and then for more than two and a half years, lived in several Japanese camps as a prisoner of war.

The A-lister actress worked and lobbied hard to get the helming job, just her second directorial gig following 2011's In the Land of Blood and Honey. As she admitted in an exclusive interview with US Weekly, [she actually] "overprepared [pitching the movie to studio executives], with all these graphs, maps, images and boards that I tied together and put in a garbage bag." Said she: "I had to prove I could handle locations, the budget, balancing two plane crashes, the visual effects and the technical aspects."

But now the project is complete and ready for the theaters, the director won't be able to attend her own premiere screening. "I just can't believe it!" Jolie says as she lifts her hands in a gesture of helplessness before waving at the camera. She told CNN: "I am heartbroken to miss our premiere."
