The HBO hit show "Girls" Season 4 premieres this weekend and the cast was in New York City to screen the premiere on Monday night at the Museum of Natural History. Before the premiere screened, HBO programming president Michael Lombardo made the announcement that the comedy series has been renewed for a fifth season.

Executive producers for the show include Judd Apatow and Jenni Konner; Konner also shares showrunning duties with Dunham.

"Girls" was created by Lena Dunham who also stars in the series. The show is a comedy-drama following a close group of twenty-somethings living in New York City. The show's premise and major aspects of the main character were inspired by some of 28-year-old Dunham's real-life experiences. Natasha Lyonne will guest star this season.

Synopsis: Aspiring writer Hannah gets a shock when her parents visit from East Lansing, Michigan, and announce they will no longer financially support her as they have done since her graduation from Oberlin College two years before. Left to her own devices in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, she navigates her twenties, "one mistake at a time". Allison Williams, Jemima Kirke, Zosia Mamet, Adam Driver and Alex Karpovsky co-star as Hannah's circle of friends.

"Girls" Season 4 premieres Sunday night, January 11 at 9pm on HBO.

"Girls" Season 3 was 12 episodes and premiered on January 12, 2014. Season 4 will be shortened to 10 episodes.

Dunham wrote and directed the independent film Tiny Furniture (2010). She has received eight nominations for Emmy Awards as a writer, director, actress and producer and won two Golden Globe Awards for Girls. Dunham is also the first woman to win a Directors Guild Award for Outstanding Director in a Comedy Series. She released a book earlier this year titled Not That Kind of Girl: A Young Woman Tells You What She's "Learned".
