The Boy Next Door is a psychological thriller that explores what happens when a bored, recently-divorced high school teacher and housewife gets into a sexual tryst with the young man who moves in right next door to her house. After their proverbial night of passion, the boy who's her son's friend, quickly becomes obsessed with her to the point that things begin to get dangerously creepy. The 45-year-old Jennifer Lopez stars as Claire Peterson, the cradle snatching high school teacher, while the 27-year-old Ryan Guzman portrays Noah Sandborn, the boy next door.

J.Lo, in an interview for SELF magazine where she is featured in the January issue, says that she can relate with her character's situation. Said she: "I've been cheated on, just like every other girl in the world. So you sympathize, you understand the emotions. And I've dated a younger guy once in my life, so I could definitely understand that part, too -- the attraction." For a few years, J. Lo and 27-year-old dancer and choreographer Casper Smart were an item. But, the actress was quick to add: "All the old clichés about women need to be undone. Enough already. We're in the other position now. We are desirable older, we can date younger guys and it's not this big taboo. Men have been doing this for years, and it's no big deal."

Guzman has only praises for his much-older co-star and film love interest. He told Huffington Post: "You learn so much when you work with Jennifer Lopez 'cause she just does everything.' While we were filming, she was writing a book, she was working on her album, she was doing 'American Idol' and still being a mom of two. I was like 'Jen, you need to slow down you're going to tire yourself out,' but that woman is an Energizer bunny. She just never stops, and I learned that that work ethic is why she's made it to where she is."

Directed by Rob Cohen and written by Barbara Curry, the film also stars John Corbett as Claire's ex-husband, Kristin Chenoweth as her close friend and confidant, Ian Nelson as her son Kevin and Hill Harper as the school headmaster. Produced by Jason Blum of Blumhouse Productions, Lopez and Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas of Nuyorican Productions, Benny Medina of The Medina Company and John Jacobs of Smart Entertainment, The Boy Next Door hits the theaters on January 23, 2015.
