Anne Hathaway has high hopes for Neil Patrick Harris’ hosting gig in the coming Oscars; Admits to facing her own demons

Though Anne Hathaway isn't proud of her hosting capabilities during the 2011 Oscars, she is rather looking forward to what Neil Patrick Harris is going to do for this year. The actress tells The New York Times that "He'll be great" and that "He's a natural host."

She also advised the How I Met Your Mother star that he needs to do the opposite of what she did and everything will be smooth sailing from there onwards.

She and her co-host, James Franco, received criticism during their time as hosts for the 83^rd Academy Awards wherein they spoofed the year's top movies in their opening and their lack of chemistry. Furthermore, Franco barely interacted with his co-host during the show's duration. When asked on what went wrong for the duo the actress replied with a, "I think it's so obvious that it doesn't even need to be identified," as quoted by ABC News.

But the Les Miserables actress shared that despite the criticisms, she learned to takes things in a creative way and not take them to heart that much. She shares with Elle U.K in the November 2014 issue, "The thing I've learned this past year is to chill out. I think when you're young and struggling to find yourself, there's something alluring about the idea of being tortured. Life for me these days is a lot about letting the unknown be wonderful, and letting myself feel safe," People quotes. 

Hathaway also has her own demons to face. In a recent interview, she admits that she used to be addicted to smoking and has a hard time shaking it off. The 32-year-old actress picked up the habit while she was filming her Oscar-nominated film, Rachel Getting Married where she played the character of an addict. Though she admits that she had quit once, she found herself picking up a cigarette again and then quitting for a second time.

"I've quit. I got hooked for a few years. I had a four-year break, and then actually when I was producing Song One, I started smoking again. It's easy to romanticize it when you haven't done it in a while, but it's actually pretty disgusting," US Weekly quotes Hathaway.
