Columbia Pictures' Hotel Transylvania 2, the sequel to 2012's box office hit Hotel Transylvania, is scheduled to be released to US theaters on September 25. Again directed by Gendy Tartakovsky from a Robert Smigel-penned screenplay, the new comedy fantasy computer-animated 3D film will be a continuation of Count Dracula's adventures and misadventures as the owner and manager of a high-end resort and vacation home for monsters.

In the first Hotel Transylvania movie, it was seen that Dracula's (Adam Sandler) 'teenage' 118-year-old vampire daughter Mavis (Selena Gomez) fell madly in love with the human Jonathan/Johnnystein (Andy Samberg) who stumbled onto the hotel. In the sequel, the movie will explore what happens when Dracula's father, the grumpy old-old-old fashioned Vlad (Mel Brook), after several years, finally decides to visit the hotel for an impromptu get-together with his son and grand-daughter. According to the plot summarythe high-end luxury exclusive resort for monsters is in for a comic collision of Vlad's supernatural old-school and Dracula's modern day cool. Also back in the cast of Hotel Transylvania 2 are Griffin, the Invisible Man (David Spade), Murray, the Mummy (Keegan-Michael Key), Wayne, the Werewolf (Steve Buscemi), and Eunice, the Bride of Frankenstein (Fran Drescher).

Asked about his character Vlad in the upcoming sequel film, Brook, the 88-year-old screen icon, told Deadline: "He's been around for eons, and he's a pretty crabby guy. Basically, he reminds me of me." In 1996, the Oscar-, Tony-, Grammy- and Emmy-winning actor directed, produced and co-wrote the comedy film Dracula: Dead And Loving It, as well as also starring in it as the vampire hunter Val Helsing.

Michelle Murdocca is producing Hotel Transylvania 2 with Sandler, Allen Covert, and Ben Waisbren acting as executive producing.

The original Hotel Transylvania which was made at a reported budget of $85 million went on to gross over $358 million worldwide.
