Lionsgate's Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2, the second of two cinematic parts based on the novel 'Mockingjay,' the final book in in author Suzanne Collins' young-adult adventure science fiction Hunger Games trilogy, is scheduled for release on November 20. Directed by Francis Lawrence from a screenplay written by Danny Strong and Peter Craig, the movie was filmed back to back with Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 which was released on November 21 last year.

Both Parts 1 and 2 of Hunger Games: Mockingjay have basically the same cast, led by Jennifer Lawrence as main protagonist Katniss Everdeen, along with Josh Hutcherson as Peeta Mellark, Liam Hemsworth as Gale Hawthorne, Woody Harrelson as Haymitch Abernathy, Elizabeth Banks as Effie Trinket, Julianne Moore as President Alma Coin, Jeffrey Wright as Beetee Latier, Jena Malone as Johanna Mason, Sam Claflin as Finnick Odair, Philip Seymour Hoffman as Plutarch Heavensbee, Stef Dawson as Annie Cresta, Willow Shields as Primrose Everdeen, and Donald Sutherland as President Coriolanus Snow. Unfortunately, Academy Award-winning Hoffman died of an apparent drug overdose with still seven days of shooting left on his Part II scenes.

Parts I and II will "have two distinct stories," director Lawrence, in a talk with Entertainment Weekly, said. He also said that while there won't be any major changes from the novel, there will be new elements in the film adaptation that will "surprise even fans of the book." He explained: "Instead of changing the plot and changing characters, what we did was have the opportunity to show scenes that could have been happening at different times in the book. For us, it's world expansion instead of changing things. I think it's exciting for the fan to see certain things. So we've been able to open the world up in this and see some new places. We get to see some new districts this time and the scope gets quite large."
