‘Thor: Ragnarok’, No Script Yet but Chris Hemsworth Says It'll Be “Pretty Big”

Marvel Studios has confirmed that the third Thor film will be titled Thor: Ragnarok, and it will hit theaters July 28, 2017. Back in January of last year, the studio announced that Christopher Yost and Craig Kyle will be writing the screenplay for the Thor 3 movie. Chris Hemsworth who plays the title role, according to Comic Book, was asked if he could divulge any details about his third Thor film. He replied, "No, I can't...But also, there is no script for Thor, the next Thor, so I have no idea where we'll end up. But, it's pretty big, this one."   

Craig Kyle who transitioned from being Marvel's senior vice president of Production and Development to once more become a full-time screenwriter reportedly teased Screen Rant that the upcoming Thor movie will be based on the Ragnarok storyline that was featured in the Marvel comic books. Loki, according to that storyline, will be responsible for initiating action which will lead to Ragnarok, the Norse equivalent of Apocalypse, a doomsday for the gods of Asgard. Aside from Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston is confirmed to be back in the cast to reprise his role as the god of mischief Loki. In the comic book Raganarok story line, both Loki and Thor die and Asgard falls.

Regarding at what point Thor: Ragnarok will be taking off, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige said: "This is a very important movie for us in Phase 3. We plan on taking Thor to another level. It picks up where we leave Thor in Avengers: Age of Ultron and impacts everything that comes after." Avengers: Age of Ultron is scheduled for release on May 1, 2015.

According to Sneak Peak, it has been speculated that Loki may cause Ragnarok by disturbing Surtur the fire demon, and frame Thor by lying to his fellow Asgardians that it was the thunder god who killed their father Odin. Also rumored to appear in the next Thor movie are Amor the Enchantress who will serve as Loki's love interest and Scourge the executioner, along with Balder and Beta Ray Bill who will aid Thor in his fight with Surtur.
