Beck, the 44-year-old alternative rock musician whose album Morning Phase won Grammy's 2015 Album of the Year, beating those of Beyonce, Pharrell Williams and Ed Sheeran, showed the world he not only has the talent to be named the winner. He also has the humility to be a gracious winner, a real-life class-act.

In an interview with US Weekly, he was asked for his reaction on Kanye West's now laughable efforts at ruining his big night, first by staging a mock dash for the stage in a manner reminiscent of what he did to Taylor Swift in 2009, then by a rant at E!Online that he should "respect artistry" and hand over his award to Beyonce. In his reply, Beck said: "I was just so excited he was coming up. He deserves to be on stage as much as anybody. How many great records has he put out in the last five years right? You can't please everybody, man. I still love him and think he's genius. I aspire to do what he does." Asked if he agrees with Kanye that Beyonce should have won the Album of the Year Award, he answered: "Absolutely. I thought she was going to win. Come on, she's Beyonce!"

Of course, not all of Beck's fans are as forgiving as Beck himself. In a tit-for-tat for the Grammy incident, Kanye West was forced to perform at an outdoor concert in front of the Flatiron Building in New York City Thursday night while next to a huge display of the word "BECK!"on the windows of the nearby PNYC office building. In a statement to the Gothamist, the company said: "We are an agency actively researching the effects of Out of Home (OOH) advertising. We found out Kanye was playing outside of our building and we wanted to make a point about being in the right place at the right time with the right message and how that can be amplified through digital channels. And... don't fuck with Beck."
