Afroman was playing a show on Tuesday night (February 17) in Biloxi, Mississippi, when a woman, who appeared to be intoxicated, made her way onto the stage. The 40-year-old singer was playing his guitar when the woman started dancing close behind him. Without any seeming hesitation, Afroman hit the woman, knocking her to the ground. You can watch the video of the incident above.

TMZ reported that she was bleeding and crying, but managed to get up on her own, without the help of Afroman who kept on playing. He was eventually escorted off stage by cops, who arrested him outside for assault.

Afroman claims to have not known it was a woman when he hit her, which is understandable, but didn't seem to show any remorse after he knocked her down either. So this makes his answer a little more difficult to believe.

"This was a completely involuntary reflex reaction to people infringing on his stage space," his rep said in a prepared statement to Billboard. "It was uncharacteristic behavior that was initiated by outside uncontrolled forces."

His rep blamed a lack of security at the venue and added Afroman often has trouble with fans coming onstage.

Afroman is best known for the hit single "Because I Got High". He was nominated for a Grammy award in 2002. After the single's success, Afroman joined the lineup of Cypress Hill's fall festival "Smoke Out" with the Deftones, Method Man, and others. Afroman was part of the 2010 Gathering of the Juggalos lineup.

In October 2014, Afroman released a positive remix of his own song 'Because I Got High', to highlight the usefulness of marijuana in the fight to legalize the sale of marijuana in many states across the United States.
