Actor Harrison Ford is all set to star in the much-anticipated sequel of Blade Runner. The movie is going to be directed by Denis Villeneuve, the noted French-Canadian filmmaker, who created waves with his movie Prisoners earlier. The sequel would be loosely based on 'Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep' by Philip K. Dick.

Alcon Entertainment had bought all the rights of the movie years earlier and are now going to work on the sequel. The Alcon Entertainment officials released a statement in which they said that they were honored that the legend Harrison Ford agreed to star in the sequel. They plan to start work on the sequel next year.

Actor Ford is soon about to hit 73 years in a few months, but his screen presence and charisma shows no signs of abating. He is as charming as ever and it would certainly be a treat for the fans to watch him in action once again in a Blade Runner movie.

Harrison Ford is going to essay the role of Rick Deckard, a policeman whose job brief is to simply hunt down the replicants/androids. In the original version of the movie, we had seen that the animals have mostly become extinct and it is Rick's lifelong dream to own an animal. The consolation prize in place of a real animal is a robot-animal, and people in the movie have taken them as pets, in order to fulfill their urge of having a real pet.
