Google's calendar app released last year for Android users was a hit. The calendar had various synchronization options along with photos and maps. The app was promised for iOS and now the app has finally been released for iPhone.

This smart app is able to add events stored in Gmail. In addition to that, it can suggest similar events including titles, people and places. It has a neat design and a highlighted, new 'Schedule view'. It is also completely compatible with other iPhone calendars like Exchange and iCloud.

The app can directly copy and store events such as flights, concerts, restaurant reservations etc from the users Gmail account. It has options for several views based on days, weeks and months. Another added feature is the easy switching between various views.

The 'Schedule view' is a highlighted new feature in the Calendar app. It shows the entire calendar in a timeline. The Material design displays the cards in a customized manner to give an idea about the scheduled events.

The iOS version is identical to the Android version and it works with both Gmail accounts and Google Apps.  This useful app is free of charge and downloadable from App Store.

Google has been releasing a series of high-performance, user-friendly apps for iOS. However, a major drawback of the app might be that it is only functional in the iPhone. Users who have both iPad and iPhone might want a single usable calendar for both their devices, which is at least now, not supported. Even if Google is trying to establish a replacement for the Apple's Calender app, they are still far from implementing a universal one for both iPads and iPhones.
