Robbie Kay, 19, last seen on the small-screen as the villainous Peter Pan in Season 3 of Once Upon A Time, is signed on for a still undisclosed role in Tim Kring's upcoming Heroes Reborn, a 13-episode miniseries that, according to NBC's official synopsis would "reconnect with the basic elements of the show's first season where ordinary people were waking up to the fact that they had extraordinary abilities."

Kay joins confirmed cast members Jack Coleman who will be reprising his Noah Bennet character and Zachary Levi of Chuck fame who will be playing a role that has also not yet been disclosed. Kring is executive producing the project with James Middleton and Peter Elkoff. The opening episode will be directed by Matt Shakman, best known for his work on It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia, Fargo and The Good Wife.

In terms of the upcoming show's setting, Kring told Entertainment Weekly, Heroes Reborn "takes place in a post-season 4 universe. So it will tie into some of the ideas that were left dangling." He also revealed that rather than reviving and continuing on with the story lines of the past characters, the miniseries will be more concerned with introducing new ones. Said he: "The vast, vast majority are brand new characters, brand new ideas. [Bringing back previous characters is] really only to give a sense of continuity and a tether to the original world. If it was all completely brand new, we'd miss certain elements that need to be there to give you that bridge to cross to something new. I approached Coleman because he was a character who had a spine through the series that allowed you to meet new characters. So he's a character I wanted to make sure had a little part at the beginning of this thing."

The coming of Heroes Reborn to the small-screen was heralded by way of a 16-second promo for the series that NBC aired during the 2015 Super Bowl in Phoenix. It is expected to premiere within the next few months. But before that, the network will be featuring a new digital series that introduces the new characters and story lines around which Heroes Reborn will revolve.
