'The Magnificent Seven' Remake Adds Luke Grimes to Its Cast Which Now Includes Denzel Washington, Ethan Hawke Chris Pratt, Vincent D'Onofrio and Haley Bennett

Luke Grimes, 31, recently seen this year in the hit films Fifty Shades of Grey and American Sniper, now joins Denzel Washington, Ethan Hawke Chris Pratt, Vincent D'Onofrio and Haley Bennett in the cast of director Antoine Fuqua's remake of the 1960 classic western The Magnificent Seven by John Sturges which then starred Yul Brynner, Eli Wallach, Steve McQueen, Charles Bronson, Robert Vaughn, James Coburn, Brad Dexter and Horst Buchholz.

The reboot film will have Hawke, 44, being reunited with his co-star Denzel Washington,60, and their director, Fuqua, in  2001's commercially successful and critically acclaimed Training Day. In that film, Hawke received a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor, while Washington won the Academy Award for Best Actor.

Washington, Fuqua and Bennett, 27, previously also worked together in the making of last year's The Equalizer film, a big-screen adaptation of the 1985 TV series.

Bennett's character in the Magnificent Seven remake will reportedly be the widow who will be hiring bounty hunter Washington and his disparate group of gunslingers to protect her town from rampaging bandits. The new version of the film will reportedly be set in a mining town, taken over by an unscrupulous gold baron, rather than the Mexican village of the original which was being victimized by bandits. D'Onofrio, 55, will reportedly be the movie's main villain. Presumably, Hawke, Pratt, and Grimes will play three of the seven magnificent gunfighters.

The Magnificent Seven's script is currently being rewritten by John Lee Hancock based on an earlier draft penned by Nic Pizzolatto. Although production has not yet begun, Sony Pictures has already announced that the movie will be released on January 13, 2017.

The original 1960 The Magnificent Seven film was followed by three sequels: Return of the Seven in 1966, Guns of the Magnificent Seven in 1969, and The Magnificent Seven Ride in 1972. A comedy parody, Tres Amigos, was also released in 1986. The film also launched a TV series which ran from 1998 to 2000 on CBS.
