Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield have broken up? Or are they still dating?

Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield have been one of Hollywood's most popular, adorable and stable couples for years now.

The news of the break-up comes from the Star tabloid, which means there's a good chance it's either entirely made up or based on an "inside source" that entirely not related to the couple.

In a report by San Jose Mercury News, lots of media outlets are jumping on the story, based on common perception that Stone and Garfield have not been seen together in public much lately, and Garfield did not turn up at the Oscars or Golden Globes, even though Stone was nominated for an award at each.

As the "source" told Star, "It's clear they've drifted apart. It's an unspoken issue, but everybody knows they are on hold."

Hollywood Life issued a similar report, saying the couple is not done but that the two stars are taking time apart to "figure things out."

"They need to know if what they once had is worth saving," a "source" told Hollywood Life.

After being nominated for the Academy Awards for Best Supporting Actress for Birdman, Emma will be seen next on Alohawhere she will be paired up with Bradley Cooper. She will then take on the role of a student who fell in love with her professor, Joaquin Phoenix, with Irrational Man.

On the other hand, Garfield might not be reprising his role as Peter Parker for the next Spider-Man installment as Sony had turned over the film production to Marvel. Marvel had confirmed that Peter Parker will be re-cast.

Meanwhile, Garfield will join Liam Neeson in the upcoming Martin Scorsese directorial, Silence.
