Viola Davis is known to viewers of the hit legal drama series as the lawyer-professor Annalise Keating who teaches a criminology subject she dubs as How to Get Away with Murder to law students. Her character takes in five students from her class to serve as apprentices in her law firm.

Fans who were devastated with the "news" later on found out that the news story was an April Fool's prank by the website and is not a true story. In truth, Viola Davis will not be leaving How to Get Away with Murder and will reprise her role in the upcoming second season.

The first season of How to Get Away with Murder received praise and positive reviews from critics and viewers from a wonderful plot that kept the audience at the edge of their seats every episode to Davis' performance. The first season also ended in a cliffhanger where viewers were left to ponder on who murdered Rebecca, played by Kate Finlay, and Sam, played by Tom Verica though many suspect that Wes Gibbins, portrayed by Harry Potter alum Alfred Enoch, was the one behind the deaths.
