Two airplanes that used to be owned by the legendary rock and roll singer Elvis Presley, the "Lisa Marie" and the "Hound Dog II," could be moved from Graceland to a location down the street under a plan approved Thursday by the Shelby County Land Use Control Board, according to a report from the Associated Press.

The board had approved a proposal from the OKC Partnership, the current owners of the aircrafts, to have them moved to a lot just steps away from the Graceland property. The planes had been sold after Presley's death. They were eventually purchased by OKC Partnership which agreed with Presley's estate managers to bring them back to the singer's home. The "Lisa Marie" and the "Hound Dog II" have been situated at Graceland since the mid-1980s, and they are a popular tourist draw. Under the agreement, OKC Partnership is entitled to receive a cut of ticket sales in return for keeping the planes in Graceland.

Aside from the planes, the Graceland grounds include a museum across the street from the late singer's mansion, containing many Elvis artifacts like some of his famous Vegas jumpsuits, awards, gold records, and Elvis' extensive auto collection which includes his famous Pink Cadillac.

In an April 7, 2014, letter to OKC Partnership's K.G. Coker, the CEO of Elvis Presley Enterprises, Jack Soden, said the company was exercising its option to end the agreement and asked OKC "to make arrangements for the removal of the airplanes and the restoration of the site on or shortly after April 26, 2015."

The Memphis City Council must approve the plan according to the Associated Press report. If they are moved to the new location, the planes would be part of an outdoor display and museum for tourists to visit. On the other hand, it could also be gone by then and taken home by a new owner. The aviation sales site Controller is still advertising for "serious offers" for the 1960 Convair 880 and Lockheed Jetstar previously owned by Presley, although it adds, "for display only, not airworthy for flight!"
