The game involves lone warrior "Mad Max" Rockatansky who embarks on a complicated and dangerous journey looking for his Interceptor after it was stolen by marauders hungry for blood and led by Scabrous Scrotus, the warlord.

Max is considered a reluctant and full of surprises hero with an incredible instinct to survive despite the deadly environment he is in.  All he wanted is to live in peace in the "Plains of Silence" and leave all the madness behind him as based on the overview of the game on the PlayStation site.

New developments have been made now that the launch date approaches and these have been shared with the fans.  John Fuller, the Senior Producer of Avalanche Studios revealed that they are making sure that the PlayStation 4 hardware is being tested to its limit getting "The Wasteland" in as much immersion and content as possible.  The studio is also making sure that gamers get surprises in and around the corners of the place.  Aside from the barren and desolate landscapes there will be an indoor location and it is quite new to "Mad Max" fans.
