Madonna has a lot to say lately, and true to her style, she is not mincing words. Declare love for ex-husband in public? Check. Declare entertainers are great mothers too, against the haters? Check.

Madonna just declared her undying love for ex-husband Sean Penn in public and this sparked intense reconciliation rumors. US magazine reports that she joined Penn at a pre-Golden Globes benefit gala for the J/P Haitian Relief Organization held in Beverly Hills on Saturday, January 9 and what was supposed to be innocent event turned into something else. The 57-year old brought her children David Banda and Mercy James with her to the said event and US Weekly now reports a source divulged that the actor, 55, personally escorted the "Rebel Heart" singer into the building.

As the "I Am Sam" actor starts concluding his speech on the value of raising awareness with the help needed by those in Haiti, he called his ex-wife Madonna to the stage. Madonna went up graciously and thanked all the guests for being there. She added that using her night off from her tour to attend the event is truly worthwhile. She also recalled visiting Haiti with Penn and son Rocco two years ago and how impressive and warm the welcome Penn received. While she recounted how moved the crowds were whenever Penn was in their presence, she let it slip that she still "loves" the actor.

"Everywhere he went, people just, the crowds just parted, and it wasn't because he's a movie star and it's not because he was carrying six guns. It's because he put his heart and soul into this and with the help of so many people around the world and in this room," she said. "So I want to say that, Sean, I love you. From the moment that I laid eyes on you. And I still love you, just the same. I just wish you would stop smoking so many cigarettes." Following her heartfelt speech, Madonna proceeded to play her ukulele for the crowd.

While it is difficult to understand what Madonna really means by saying she loves Penn now the same way she loved him when they first met, reconciliation rumors are now making the rounds in the Internet. Even though Madonna is not responding to these rumors,  she has been more vocal about the value of supporting independent and working single mothers. One of her most recent Instagram posts is a picture of her kids, where she used the caption to lament the fact that the current society is still not being respectful and friendly of single mothers who work. She also specifically said that it is possible to be both a good entertainer and a good mother.

It is possible that she was reacting to former reports that her children were starting to suffer from her constant touring. In particular, The New York Post reported last week that insiders claimed Madonna's 15-year-old Rocco and 19-year-old Lourdes wanted stability that the singer cannot provide.
