"Fast and Furious 8" had teased in previous trailers that Vin Diesel's character Dominic Toretto will turn to the dark side. However, it seems the cars are not far behind in wreaking havoc all around the world.

A new trailer for "Fast and Furious 8," which is also titled "The Fate of the Furious," sees the newest villain Cipher (played by Charlize Theron) control almost all available vehicles in New York City, including taxis. It also sees Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's character Luke Hobbs pick up a torpedo with just his bare hands, according to Digital Spy.

The trailer for "Fast and Furious 8" has also teased that Cipher knew about Dom long before he decided to join forces with her, as well as implying that the former's decision to go on a dark path was not out of his own choice. Rather, it appears that he had been blackmailed by the latter for reasons yet to be revealed.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Diesel admits that he was "worried" about Dom heading into "such a dark road" in "Fast and Furious 8" but explained in detail why they felt the need to do something they haven't done before. "In some ways, there was little reason to continue if we weren't going to challenge our characters and the fans' faith in our saga," he said.

Diesel also teased a possible connection between Cipher and Dom's wife Letty (Michelle Rodriguez), saying that it starts when Letty joined Owen Shaw's team in "Fast and Furious 6." He also revealed that he kept fighting for Rodriguez's character all those years because he believes she forms part of the relationship that, he says, is the core heart in the saga. Despite the dark road that the eighth installment will go through, he still hopes that fans will still enjoy the journey. "Fast and Furious 8" will be released in US cinemas on April 14.
