Zayn Malik has opened up for the first time about his relationship with model Gigi Hadid. He has also spoken out about his failed engagement to Perrie Edwards.

In an interview with the Sunday Times Style Magazine's Men's Special, the former One Direction singer has given readers a glimpse of his private life. Zayn Malik revealed that he and Hadid have been living together for about a year. She has also met his family in London several times but has not taken her to his hometown, Bradford.

When asked about the "war zone" lyric in his debut single "Pillow Talk," which also featured Hadid, Zayn Malik could not help but talk about his previous failed relationships. Among his famous exes is the Little Mix singer, who he was briefly engaged to for three years before it was called off. "Love hurts. Love is hard. Maybe my experiences of love up to writing that album were (sic) new and hard," he said, according to The Mirror.

The star had also opened up about his past struggles with anxiety as well as an eating disorder. The once troubled Zayn Malik now says he has completely conquered his demons, admitting that a break from the spotlight in the comfort of his parents' home was what he needed. Currently, he no longer struggles with mental issues and has gained firm control of his eating habits.

"Every area of my life was so regimented and controlled it was the one area where I could say, 'No, I'm not eating that,' Zayn Malik said, according to The Sun. "Once I got over the control, the eating just came back into place, super naturally." He added that his mother's home-cooked meals and tender loving care help him "get in touch" mentally with what he had lost.

Last year in June saw Zayn Malik backing out minutes before going on stage of Capital FM's Summertime Ball at Wembley Stadium, citing his existing anxiety issues. Three months later, he also had to cancel a show in Dubai because he still did not feel "sufficiently confident" after taking a break to sort his issues out.
