Director Niki Caro sent longtime fans of the 1998 Disney animated film "Mulan" into a frenzy when she said that the upcoming remake will have no music. However, she has since clarified the issue in a new interview.

Caro revealed last week that the "Mulan" remake, which is slated for a November 2018 release, will not include any songs from the original film. "From what I understand, no songs right now," she told Moviefone before adding, "much to the horror of my children." Her revelation has since provoked a debate on social media among fans about whether no songs in the movie would mean a good thing or a bad thing.

And although the director had assured that the new "Mulan" will be a "big, girly martial arts epic" that would be "extremely muscular and thrilling and entertaining and moving," it done little to nothing in dampening the hope from some fans that songs will still be included in the new film. Caro eventually clarified her initial comments on Tuesday and revealed that nothing has been set in stone.

"We've never talked about songs, and no decision has been made," she revealed to the Los Angeles Times. "I haven't even started working on it yet." But she went on to admit that she's amazed at how passionate some people are over the project. A representative for Walt Disney Inc. has yet to give a comment about the controversy about "Mulan" having no music.

The film studio had begun making casting searches for principal roles as early as October of last year. Two months later, a "Mulan" casting call had circulated around social media, according to E! Online. For actresses who hope to get the coveted titular role "must be able to speak fluent English and Mandarin Chinese." She must also have the "power of speed and coordination and sheer force," which will help her do extremely well in the army.
