While Katy Perry recently made the headlines for the release of a remixed version of her single “Chained to the Rhythm,” the award-winning singer had a nasty exchange with a fan on Twitter. Katy told off a Twitter user to alter her username after she tweeted rude words about the “Chained to the Rhythm” remix.

The drama began after Katy Perry herself tweeted a link for her followers to check out the Boat Remix of the said track on Soundcloud. In particular, she retweeted a link shared by Lil Boat Cot, writing: “I can’t believe we both don’t even smoke and we sound this dope! I LOVE YOU SO MUCH LY.”

However, not all of Katy Perry’s fans were excited about the remix. A Twitter user with the handle @katyshellokitty openly criticized the new version, saying that she did not like it at all. “Why would we listen to this? You forgot about us, we can’t stan you no more,” the user tweeted in response to Katy’s tweet.

The 32-year-old singer saw the tweet and directly responded; Katy Perry basically slammed her fan by tweeting: “then change your @.” Subsequently, @katyshellokitty posted an image of Katy Perry decked in a black leather outfit holding a cigarette. Other users on Twitter also got caught in the exchange as another picture of the singer-songwriter smoking during a party was posted, as reported by Unreality TV.

These images were shared in response to Katy Perry’s caption for the “Chained to the Rhythm” Boat Remix link. "I can't believe we both don't even smoke and we sound this dope!", she wrote.

Meanwhile, Fader reported that some fans have already pointed out that the “Last Friday Night” singer is in need of new songs, despite Katy Perry herself promising the release of her latest album sometime this year. Her last album, “Prism,” was launched in 2013.

“Chained to the Rhythm” is the first single off of Katy Perry’s upcoming album, reaching up high in the music charts as it garnered the number one spot in Mexico and fourth spot in the United States.
