'Criminal Minds': Thomas Gibson's Petition Against Ex-Manager Rejected; Series Not Included in CBS Renewal Announcement

Less than a year after Thomas Gibson got terminated from CBS police procedural crime series "Criminal Minds," it appears that the actor and director is facing another issue. In August 2014, Frontline Entertainment, an agency that caters the production of independent, affordable, quality and small-budget movies, sued Gibson over a fund that is owed to the firm. Gibson reportedly filed a petition to have the ten percent commission voided but a lawyer for the Labor Commissioner rejected the petition.

According to the HollyWood Reporter, Craig Dorman's Frontline Entertainment lawsuit stated that Gibson is known as Captain Vanilla because of his lack of professionalism. Gibson earned $4.8 million in "Criminal Minds" and attempted to avoid paying the said commission through filing the petition. He explained that Dorman was fired because the manager did not get him a bump in his earned money between season 9 and season 10 of the series for his role as Aaron Hotchner.

Gibson said that Dorfman wasn't licensed to secure work for him, which violates the Talent Agencies Act. Dorfman was his talent agent and eventually became his manager and have procured him a role in "Criminal Minds." Others gigs that Gibson had, includes a number of commercials, a modeling job as well as his role in the 2004 movie "In From the Night." He was also offered to be a celebrity spokesperson for the Professional Golfers Association.

In August 2016, Gibson had an on-set altercation with one of "Criminal Minds" showrunners, where he claimed that the dispute was because of their creative differences in an episode that he was directing. Reports say that he allegedly kicked the writer-producer, but later apologized in a statement. Since then, fans of the long-standing CBS series have tried to call out to producers to bring Gibson back in the show and even started a petition. Fans have also tried to boycott the show by starting a hashtag NoHotchNoWatch.

In other "Criminal Minds" news, Comic Book reports that the series was not included in the renewal announcement of CBS on March 23. However, it doesn't mean that the series will be cancelled. Until then, fans will have to be patient while waiting for the official announcement that the series has been renewed.
