"New Girl" Season 6 cancellation news reveals that the Zooey Deschanel-led drama is most likely getting axed on Fox. The show has not yet been renewed for another season despite the fact that it will be airing its season (possibly series) finale on Tuesday.

Even executive producers Dave Finkel and Brett Baer seemed uncertain about the fate of "New Girl" Season 6 after it airs its finale. In an interview with TVGuide.com, the executive producers admitted that they made the season finale in a way that it can also function as the series finale.

This is also why the show runners decided to finally reveal Schmidt's first name during the penultimate episode of "New Girl" Season 6. According to Finkel and Baer, they were supposed to do the big reveal in Season 5, but they knew they were coming back for a sixth season and it did not feel right to reveal things that time.

Actor Jake Johnson also seemed to think that "New Girl" Season 6 is going to be cancelled. In an earlier interview, the actor explained that he thinks the show is about to end after six seasons on Fox, reports Cinema Blend.

The actor later on explained that his comments on "New Girl" Season 6 cancellation were not reflective of those of the network. Johnson shared that Fox has not yet officially cancelled the show, so everything still remains uncertain about the show's status.
