"The Winds of Winter" is the sixth novel in George R.R. Martin's fantasy series "A Song of Ice and Fire" and fans have been eagerly waiting for its release, which is said to be this year. GRRM has announced in January 2017 that he believes the novel would be released within the year but also said that he thought the same thing the previous year. Recent reports claim the book should be out before "Game of Thrones" premieres on July 16. It is also said that "American Gods" author, Neil Gaiman is writing the novel alongside GRRM and fans speculate that he could be Martin's editor as well.

Earlier reports from Celebeat suggest that a source claim that "The Winds of Winter" should be out in June as GRRM is just wrapping up a charity work and will get back to writing. It is said that author Neil Gaiman has been spotted at GRRM's home leading fans to believe that he must have been writing the novel on behalf of Martin. Now, recent reports say that Gaiman is co-writing with Martin to speed up its release and is possibly his editor.

"The Winds of Winter" author is currently focusing on his film studio in Sta. Fe, Mexico, which will be available to Hollywood productions and film entrepreneurs. Albuquerque Journal reports that the film studio sits in a 30,000 square-foot non-profit building. Sta. Fe mayor previously said that GRRM's project is a great help to boost the town's economy and will develop local filmmakers' skills and talents.

The previous installment, "A Dance with Dragons" has covered less story and numerous character threads that end in cliffhangers, which Martin plans to resolve in "The Winds of Winter." "I'm going to open with the two big battles that I was building up to, the battle in the ice and the battle at Meereen-the battle of Slaver's Bay. And then take it from there," he told Smarter Travel in 2012.

The plot for "The Winds of Winter" will still focus on the seven clan's rivalry. Martin also said that the novel will take fans further north and the Others will also be featured in the book. Stay tuned to Celebeat to get updated with GRRM's upcoming novel.
