Could Thomas Gibson Return To ‘Criminal Minds’ Season 13? Showrunner Airs Side On Actor’s Exit

"Criminal Minds" Season 13 is still months away, but many fans are expressing their hopes to see former cast member, Thomas Gibson, return to the CBS series. As most fans can recall, Gibson was suddenly fired from the series due to an alleged altercation with one of the show's writers.

Since then, many fans threatened to stop watching "Criminal Minds" Season 12 and several have started a movement on social media called #NoHotchNoWatch. Since Moore recently reprised his role in the series, many fans believed that the same could be done with Gibson.

However, showrunner Erica Messer explained to TVGuide.com that there are no plans to have Gibson return in "Criminal Minds" Season 12. Messer shared that she has no idea what the future holds so she is not closing her doors to any possibilities of the Gibson's return.

"But there's nothing I can think about right now because it's not in the immediate future," said Messer.

"Criminal Minds" Season 13 is also expected to premiere sometime around September or October given the dates from previous seasons, per Carter Matt. It remains to be seen whether the upcoming season will see some major cast shakeups like in Season 12.

The latest season of "Criminal Minds" also featured an arc on Spencer Reid (Matthew Gray Gubler). While it was interesting to see the show do a story arc, many fans insist that the CBS series was better when Gibson was in it.
