It certainly took some time but the true villain of "Wonder Woman" has finally been revealed. The final trailer for the Gal Gadot film has confirmed that Elena Anaya's masked mystery woman is Diana Prince's longtime comic book nemesis Doctor Poison. So does this mean that Princess Maru will have no connection at all with the long-speculated baddie Ares in the DCEU flick? Is it possible that the God of War might not even be showing up in the Patty Jenkins movie at all?

The "Wonder Woman" final trailer doesn't have too many new footages but it did reveal the truth about the role Elena Anaya will play in the film, as per YouTube. Chris Pine's Steve Trevor is shown telling the Amazons of Themyscira about Doctor Poison. Naturally, Diana Prince couldn't wait to go out and save the world from Princess Maru, who might be working in connection with Ares. However, there are speculations that the God of War might not even be the true villain that Gal Gadot needs to face in the DCEU flick.

The possibility of Doctor Poison working on her own isn't exactly a far-fetched idea. After all, Princess Maru and her other incarnations were not connected to Ares in the comic books. Some believe that the possible appearance of the God of War in "Wonder Woman" may have been a way to mislead fans into thinking that Elena Anaya's character will be a minor threat. However, that hasn't stopped people from speculating that Ares would show up in the Gal Gadot movie.

It is important to point out that the identity of the villains in "Wonder Woman" are based on speculations and must be taken with a grain of salt. Nevertheless, fans can expect to see Diana Prince go up against Doctor Poison in the highly anticipated DCEU flick. Gal Gadot returns as the Amazonian princess on June 2, as per Inverse.
