After years of being delayed, many fans have been looking forward to the release of "The Winds of Winter" this year following George R.R. Martin's announcement on his blog that the book should be out before the year ends. There have been recent reports that the book would be released before "Game of Thrones" season 7 premieres in July. Other reports also suggest that "American Gods" author Neil Gaiman could be co-writing with GRRM to expedite its release but none of these have been confirmed. Now, new reports claim that the book won't be released until next year.

Earlier reports from Celebeat suggest that "The Winds of Winter" might be released after "Game of Thrones" season 8 finale as GRRM has been extremely busy with other projects. He has a film studio in his home in Sante Fe, New Mexico that will be available to all film enthusiasts, which is expected to boost the town's economy. It is also said that he is just finishing a charity work and will focus mainly on writing the book.

Many fans rejoiced over these reports, hoping to get their hands on "The Winds of Winter" before the year ends. However, Variety reports that HBO has commissioned four different writers - Jane Goldman, Brian Helgeland, Max Borenstein and Carly Wray to work on the "Game of Thrones" spin-offs. That said, GRRM is reportedly helping the writers, leading fans to believe that he certainly won't be able to finish the book this year.

"The Winds of Winter" author has just launched his StageCoach Foundation, helping young film enthusiasts to develop their talents and skills. Fans are already hoping that he would continue writing the book. However, with recent reports claiming that he is helping the writers to helm the "Game of Thrones" spin-offs, having the book out in the wild this year is next to impossible.

"The Winds of Winter" is the sixth installment of George R.R. Martin's fantasy epic series "A Song of Ice and Fire." Celebeat will keep everyone posted as soon as new updates on GRRM's upcoming novel come in. Stay tuned!
