While there is no official release date announcement for "Vikings" season 5 just yet, executive producer Morgan O'Sullivan opened up a few details of the upcoming installment. Asked whether fans would be able to see the next installment very soon, O'Sullivan said that it would be this year. "It'll be towards the end of the year I think," he told IFTN. "We don't have an air date as yet but hopefully, we'll have one pretty soon."

Apparently, O'Sullivan remains tight-lipped on the specific air date of "Vikings" season 5 but theories have it that it should be out in the fall of this year. Although the executive shared that the release date of the next installment would be this year, he keeps its plot under wraps. However, this doesn't stop fans from speculating on what could happen next season.

Some fans suggest that "Vikings" season 5 will pick up from the scenes that were left off in season 4 and the promo for the next installment showcases a funeral that fans believe is for Sigurd. Fans can remember that his brother Ivar the Boneless (Alex Høgh) killed him by using an ax, hitting him in the chest when they had a tough argument. However, other fans suggest that Sigurd could still be alive.

According to some experts, Sigurd would still return in "Vikings" season 5 as he would still survive from the wounds he suffered from his brother's doing. Nonetheless, these are mere speculations and remains to be seen comes the next installment. CeleBeat will keep everyone posted. Stay tuned.
