Travis Fimmel has certainly done an excellent job at bringing Ragnar Lothbrok to life in "Vikings", so much so that most fans have vowed not to watch the series after the former King of Kattegat's death. However, the "Warcraft" star originally had his eye on a different role in the History show. Fimmel has just confirmed that he had wanted to play the iconic Northman Ivar the Boneless instead of the farmer who eventually rose to power. In addition to that, the "Vikings" Season 5 alum revealed that he was interested in being the eccentric boatmaker Floki, the role that had been given to Gustaf Skarsgaard.

Travis Fimmel recently spoke to TheWrap about working on "Vikings", admitting that filming in Ireland had been the toughest thing about being a part of the series. The "Finding Steve McQueen" star also revealed that he was initially interested in playing a different character in the show. Fimmel first stated that he wanted the role of Ivar the Boneless, who is depicted as the crippled yet bloodthirsty son of Ragnar Lothbrok. However, there was another character that the former "Vikings" Season 5 actor wanted to portray, and it happens to be Ragnar's good friend and long-time ally Floki.

Interestingly, Travis Fimmel somehow revealed that Gustaf Skarsgaard was already cast in the role of Floki when the "Warcraft" star was approached for "Vikings" to play Ragnar Lothbrok. It certainly is hard to imagine anyone other than Skarsgaard playing the carpenter in the show and fans are definitely waiting what will happen next for Floki in "Vikings" Season 5.

It is still unclear whether Travis Fimmel will make an appearance as Ragnar Lothbrok when the series returns to History but Floki and Ivar the Boneless are still destined for more bloodshed. "Vikings" Season 5 is expected to premiere this fall.
