Sunrise's "Code Geass" season 3 was announced in November 2016 but details of its release date remain sparse. Both seasons 1 and 2 were released to critical acclaim with critics saying that the anime series has hit every important aspect of its storyline. However, when the series' third installment was announced, one of its voice actors believes that the revival is only for money. Now, recent reports suggest that the third installment might just be out before the year ends.

"Code Geass" season 3 will be released in 2D animation as fans are already used to watching the series in this form. The release date of the third season though, is yet to be confirmed but many fans believe that it should be out in late 2018 or early 2019. According to CeleBeat, the third season is expected to pick up from the events after the Zero Requiem episode.

When "Code Geass" season 3 was announced, fans were apparently surprised but in a true anime aspect, there are characters that are not impossible to make a comeback. It is said that the third season will be released as soon as the trilogy films of the anime have premiered. "Probably late next year early 2019 - they're making 3 films to summarize season 1 & 2 before they make season 3," a fan wrote on Reddit.

It is also believed that the production for "Code Geass" season 3 has started. In the previous months, fans noticed a trailer for the series with the trilogy films, which includes different captions between the clips. What's more interesting is the caption that says the third chapter is already in production. "2017 is the start of a new age!" reads the caption. That said, many fans believe that season 3 might just be released this year.
