For years, fans have been waiting for the release of George R.R. Martin's "The Winds of Winter" but it seems that the author has so much on his plate that he can't even finish writing the book without delays. Recently, HBO confirmed that there will be five "Game of Thrones" spin-offs with four different writers. It is said that GRRM is helping out the writers in the spin-offs, which is one reason why the release of the book might be delayed again. However, some fans recently suggest the book might be released sooner since the eighth and final installment of the HBO fantasy series is pushed back to 2019.

According to Entertainment Weekly, "Game of Thrones" season 8 release date will be moved to 2019 as confirmed by HBO programming chief Casey Bloys because the production is yet to determine the schedule of filming. The writers also need to work on the script, which means that it might take time for them to start the production. That said, many fans believe that since the eight installment of the series is delayed, the possibility of the sooner release date of GRRM's "The Winds of Winter" is certainly high.

Fans have been expecting that "The Winds of Winter" will be out before the year ends. However, since GRRM doesn't have much time in his hands because of the spin-offs, everyone is hoping to get their hands on the book in 2018 if not this year. Recently, GRRM has been slammed by fans for not updating them on the progress of the book. The infamous author himself said that he doesn't want to provide updates unless it's something that would make everyone delighted.

Celebeat reports that "The Winds of Winter" might just be released next year as soon as GRRM is done working with one the spin-offs of "Game of Thrones." The author has hinted that the only way to pacify the fans is to finish the book. This made most fans become more hopeful that the book would be released anytime soon.

"The Winds of Winter" is George R.R. Martin's sixth novel in the fantasy epic series "A Song of Ice and Fire." Celebeat will keep everyone posted soon. Stay tuned!
