It seems that fans are getting really impatient nowadays as "The Winds of Winter" author George R.R. Martin has not been updating everyone if there is any progress on the long-awaited novel. Fans recently slammed the infamous author due to lack of updates about the book but GRRM defended that he can't just provide updates unless he is about to finish the book. When HBO confirmed that there will be five "Game of Thrones" spin-offs coming soon, fans rejoiced. However, when GRRM is reportedly helping the writers to helm the said show, fans become cheerless as it would mean that he can't finish the book this year.

In his Live Journal called Not A Blog (actually, it's a blog), "The Winds of Winter" author George R.R. Martin confirmed that he is developing all five spin-offs of HBO's hit series. "LOTS of things going on with television and film," he wrote. "Season 7 of Game of Thrones will be here on July 16... and the five successor shows are moving forward at various rates of speed." So, what does this mean to all fans that have been waiting for the novel then?

As Digital Spy points out, if the author is working on all five "Game of Thrones" spin-offs, it means that "The Winds of Winter" book fans might just have to chill out for now. GRRM also said that there are "a couple other TV projects" that he can't reveal just yet. "How much of this will come to pass, nobody knows. Ah, the joys of development...," he added.

One fan asked GRRM if fantasy author Thomas Burnett Swann would be a good one to help him with "The Winds of Winter." He said that it wouldn't be possible because it's going to be really different. So, for now, fans can just wait until GRRM provides one good update about the book soon.
