When singer John Mayer, 34, showed up at SkyBar at the Mondrian Los Angeles, to support Mindy Kaling for her much-anticipated new show "The Mindy Project," we did a double take. Gone was his trademark shaggy locks. That Miley Cyrus is proving to be quite the trendsetter.

Of course, this got our wheel spinning. Could Mayer's new gamine-short do' be a result of his recent split to Katy Perry? Could it be an expression of remorse?

According to reports from People magazine, it's not likely. Just after the breakup announcement was made, the suave crooner was "spotted out at Soho House in West Hollywood where he was seen sipping a Moscow mule and "flirting and talking" with two women." Not exactly mourning his brief relationship with Perry.

Several reports states that Perry, 27, wasn't so quick to jump on the I'm-over-him bandwagon. "They weren't serious, but she was really starting to fall for him," a source close to the singer said. "She wasn't seeing forever with him, but saw it lasting longer than it did."

But don't feel sorry for Perry, if her suggestive lyrics are any indication, she'll bounce back in no time. Although, she denied kissing a girl when her chart topping hit "I Kissed a Girl" was released, Perry admitted she lied because a few "sleazy" male journalists made her uncomfortable. "So I said no, I hadn't experienced it," she told Vanity Fair during an interview, "even though I had, because I didn't like where the guys were taking the interviews."

She believes fans related to the song because of its honesty. "finally someone was singing about something that existed." She said. "But it really was [meant to be] fun; there was no agenda."

Although Perry has been getting much media exposure due to her split with Mayer, we doubt it will have any effect on her vivacious spirit. "I don't care what people say about my relationship; I don't care what they say about my boobs." She told the publication. What she does care about is that "People are buying my songs; I have a sold-out tour. I'm getting incredible feedback from my music."
