Andrew W.K To Be American Party Ambassador To The Middle East? Not Anymore, US Gov't Pulls Plug On Trip To Bahrain

(In)famous party rocker Andrew W.K. was all set to travel to Bahrain as part of a US goodwill mission to the Middle East, but as soon as the news broke the U.S. State Department cancelled the trip. Is it possible that the American government offered Andrew WK the deal before listening to his music? And don't people in the Middle East deserve to party hard all the time just like the rest of us?

Andrew WK, best known for such songs as "Party Hard" and "It's Time to Party," broke the news that he would travel to Bahrain on a "cultural" mission himself on Friday via his personal Web site:

The US Department of State in partnership with the US Embassy in Manama, Bahrain, has invited Andrew to visit the Middle East to promote partying and positive power. Andrew will begin his journey sometime in December, 2012 and will visit elementary schools, the University of Bahrain, music venues, and more, all while promoting partying and world peace.

It turns out that Andrew W.K. is pretty big in Bahrain, a small Middle Eastern country still very much in turmoil following it's own violent Arab Spring. A "Bahraini entity" proposed co-sponsoring his visit with the American embassy, and while it was initially improved, the State Department later decided that it was an "inappropriate use of U.S. government funds."

"The embassy determined that was probably not a best choice and didn't meet our standards", the representative told DCist.

Andrew W.K is clearly disappointed, be he seems resolved to keep partying no matter what part of the world he's in.

"PARTY TIP: Failure isn't falling down. Failure is staying down when you still have the ability to get back up," he tweeted earlier this morning.
