Will Rihanna Star In 'good kid, m.A.A.d city' Short Film? Kendrick Drops Names In GQ Interview

Kendrick Lamar has referred to his massively popular album, "good kid, m.A.A.d. city," as a short film, and in an interview with GQ he revealed that it's no gimmick. Lamar is working on "visuals" for the album, and admitted he wants Rihanna to play the role of Sherane, his childhood girlfriend who shares her name with the record's opening track.

During the 'GQ+A,' Kendrick Lamar also said he'd like Tristan Wilds ("The Wire") to play himself, and that he'd like to see Taraji Henson ("Hustle and Flow") as his mother. When asked who would play Sherane, the rapper shocked everyone.

"I would love to see Rihanna in my movie," he said, laughing. "Looking at this cover right here, man."

Lamar might have been influenced by Rihanna jaw-droping GQ magazine cover, but it's not the first time the Bajan beauty's name has been dropped in connection with the "good kid, m.A.A.d. city" short film. In an article published soon after the album was released, Vibe offered suggestions for who should play the role, listing Rihanna along with Beyonce and Kim Kardashian (OK, maybe they were joking).

Sherane plays an important part in Lamar's concept album, which tells the story of his youth in Compton, California under the shadow of Dre, Snoop, Tupac and the tradition of West Coast Rap. The album begins with a track describing Lamar's relationship with the seductive girl, who pushed Lamar to steal his mother's car (Lama told GQ that really happened). The song ends on a dark note, leading into "B*tch Don't Kill My Vibe" and a number of introspective songs, while Sherane's name is dropped throughout the record in skits and lyrics describing her.

Lamar also told GQ that Sherane is a real person, though he changed her name to protect her identity. He also admitted to falling out of touch with his teenage girlfriend.

"I have no idea [what she's doing right now]," he said "Hopefully she's doing good, you know, but karma is a b*tch."

The rapper also helped clarify his album, explaining that the entire story played out in just one day of his life:

"A few people think that these stories are just different events throughout my whole life. That story is just one day, one full day. Some things that always happened throughout the days and throughout the weeks, but that was just one particular day that really turned my whole life around and I understood what I should be doing is something positive, which is music right now. They don't know me yet. They might think they know me, but they don't."
