A woman has claimed that she auditioned to be Tom Cruise's wife before he married Katie Holmes in 2006, Radar Online reported Monday.

Anette Johansen is a 27-year-old Norwegian woman.  She told Australia's Women's Day her belief that the Church of Scientology made her audition. The role in question was to be a potential bride for Hollywood superstar Cruise.  At the time, Johansen was helping the church with disaster relief in Thailand. In early 2005, the church allegedly contacted her to film a video.

"They asked me so many questions about my life, my family background, everything I'd ever done in Scientology. There was a lot of talk about Tom Cruise at that time - he had just been in Norway [hosting] the Nobel Peace Prize Concert," she said.

Johansen said she was intimated by the process.  She thought the details that went into filming the video were more than what was required.

"A film crew of four turned up, along with a make-up and hair stylist who made me look very glam - loads of eye shadow, mascara and lip gloss. I prefer a natural look but they told me I had to have lots of makeup," she said.

Johansen claimed that it wasn't until former Scientologist Paul Haggis came out with revelations about the church's process to find a new spouse for Cruise that she began to realize what had happened. Johansen was relieved that she was not chosen to be Cruise's next spouse. She expressed her sympathy to his third ex-wife, Holmes.

"I think what happened to Katie is terrible," she said.  "Even now it must be very difficult for her because she still has a child with him."
