Leah Remini Tells Ellen DeGeneres She 'Lost Friends' After Leaving Scientology [VIDEO]

Leah Remini lost friends because of her defection from the controversial religion Scientology, Page Six reported Tuesday.

Remini was a guest on the Season 11 opener of The Ellen Show on Monday. She described what life has been like for her since she left the organization this past summer. The King and Queens actress she lost those who had previously been close to her.

"We lost friends who can no longer talk to us who are still in the organization," she said.

Scientology has a rumored long standing policy of members not be allowing to speak to those who have defected from the faith. Remini implied that this is what has happened to her. However, the 43-year-old still has a support system.

"But we have other friends, who are not in the church, who have stood by us and that's all we can ask for," she said.

Remini went into detail about some of the factors that led to her decision to leave. She had been a member in good standing since childhood. However, allegations have surfaced that Remini ran afoul of the organization when she began to ask too many questions in 2005. She was reportedly subjected to harassment.

"But over time, my eyes got opened and I could just no longer be affiliated with the organization, and my family felt the same, so we left," she said.
