Chelsea Clinton Pregnant: Daughter Of Hilary And Bill Clinton Expecting First Child

Chelsea Clinton is pregnant with her first child.

On Thursday, the former First Daughter announced her exciting news during an event for the Clinton Foundation's No Ceilings: The Full Participation Project in New York City.

“Marc and I are very excited that we have our first child arriving later this year,” Chelsea revealed, according to an April 17 report by PEOPLE Magazine. “I certainly feel all the better whether it’s a girl or a boy that she or he will grow up in world filled with so many strong female leaders.”

Chelsea married investment banker Marc Mezvinsky on July 31, 2010 after dating for five years and becoming engaged in 2009. Following the marriage, the pair purchased a $10.5 million home in Manhattan.

A short time after Chelsea's announcement, both Bill and Hilary took to Twitter where they expressed their excitement in becoming grandparents.

"Excited to add a new line to my Twitter bio...grandfather-to-be! @hillaryclinton and I are so happy for Chelsea and Marc!" Bill wrote.

"My most exciting title yet: Grandmother-To-Be! @billclinton and I are thrilled that Chelsea and Marc are expecting their first child!" added Hilary.

The news comes just months after Chelsea's Oct. 2013 announcement that she and her husband were planning to have a baby in 2014. During an interview with Glamour Magazine, Chelsea opened up about her and Marc's plan, and revealed that her mother had been bugging her about procreating in hopes of becoming a grandparent.
