Mayim Bialik is defending her parenting in a new interview.

Ever since Bialik made headlines for breastfeeding her son on a subway, her parenting has been a hot topic and now, the Big Bang Theory star is speaking out, defending her choices for her sons.

“People laughed and sneered but it wasn’t wrong,” Bialik told In Touch Weekly of her decision to breastfeed her son Fred until he weaned himself at age 4. “Just because you do something your way doesn’t mean you can judge people who don’t. If I breast-feed and you don’t, it’s OK. I don’t think I’m a better mom and my kids aren’t necessarily better off than yours.”

Bialik, who has two sons, Miles, 8, and Fred, 5 (from her marriage to Michael Stone), chose to follow the attachment parenting method with her kids and released a book chronicling her journey. The book, titled Beyond the Sling: A Real-Life Guide to Raising Confident, Loving Children the Attachment Parenting Way, was released on March 6, 2012.

Although Bialik has embraced attachment parenting, which keeps her children close at all times, even at bed time, fans on social media have questioned her choices and slammed some of her actions. In fact, things have gotten so bad online that Bialik admits to crying because of it.

“The way that I parent is the way thousands of women parent all over the world, but I get flak for it," she said. "People say really mean things!”

Other celebrities who participate in attachment parenting include Kourtney Kardashian, Salma Hayek and Alanis Morissette.
