Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon have stepped out to suppress any rumors about their marriage.

On Thursday, Cannon confirmed he and Carey have separated, though no divorce is certain.

Cannon, 33, told The Insider With Yahoo on Aug. 21 that, "there is trouble in paradise. We have been living in separate houses for a few months." However, he claimed that there was no infidelity involved, and that his main focus was on his 3-year-old twins, Moroccan and Monroe.

Although Carey, 44, did not make any personal statements, her publicist told The Insider, "I am not commenting on Mariah's personal life, but Mariah is focusing on her children and her upcoming tour."

Cannon and Carey secretly wed in the Bahamas in 2008 after just six weeks of dating. At the time, Carey told PEOPLE Magazine, "We really do feel like we are soul mates. I never felt a love like this was in the cards for me."

The couple renewed their vows each year, except for their most recent anniversary, which they claimed was just a low-key celebration.

If anything the media reported is correct, the duo would have separated in May, but at that time, Cannon held that the couple was still together as he bashed the tabloid media.

"You kind of have to ignore it because every week it's something different, and if you paid attention to it, it actually probably would start really affecting you," he told Parade. "There's no merit or truth to it. It's kind of humorous, really. It couldn't be further off from the truth, and it really affects the credibility of the so-called newspapers."

Perhaps to maintain the front, the family posted a picture on Instagram -- their last post on any social media as a whole -- on Father's Day, all seemingly in good spirits.

Cannon dished on his separation, but gave no indication on where the future was headed. The Insider reports their divorce is a "done deal" once the two parties negotiate property settlements and custody agreements.
