Will Teresa Giudice Be Fired From 'RHONJ' After Sentencing?

Although it was reported that the Giudices had settled their bankruptcy earlier this week, creditors have the right to seek repayment from the Giudices, as if they have never filed for bankruptcy in the first place. Are you confused yet? Let's break this down.

Reality Tea reported on Sept. 3 that the couple originally filed for bankruptcy just after the first season of Real Housewives of New Jersey. It turns out this was a fraudulent case. Not that the Giudices weren't haven't money problems -- they definitely were -- but they took their case to multiple banks and tried to hide their footprints.

Teresa Giudice Doesn't Think She'll Receive Jail Time

Unfortunately for the Giudices, not even they can escape the justice system.

According to the report, the reality star couple will owe their creditors $13.5 million -- no matter how much money they recovered from their fraudulent bankrupt period. However, they did receive a "temporary reprieve from creditor action against them while their federal indictment was ongoing," reported Reality Tea.

The couple pleaded guilty in court for lying under oath and concealing their assets, and now, their Trustee, John W. Sywilok, is trying to satisfy their debts. His original plan was to sell the couple's homes and possessions, but "they were mostly financed to the hilt," he said.

Next, he secured a mere $15,000 from the couple by selling household goods and furnishings. Most of this money went towards their bankruptcy administration fees and court costs.

According to Reality Tea, the couple still "owe $5.4 million to Wachovia Bank, $1.7 million to the Community Bank of Bergen County, $1.3 million to Dime Savings Bank, more than $500,000 to the New Jersey Division of Taxation, and more than $386,000 to the Internal Revenue Service."

Ronald LeVine, a bankruptcy attorney who is completely unaffiliated to the case, told Reality Tea, "They're completely stuck with their debt. They are going to owe whatever they owed, as if they had not fought bankruptcy."

Well, tough break for the Giudice family. Next time you owe money, better fess it up before you find yourself in court.
