Maci Bookout was almost Teen Mom's first spinoff star.

According to a new report, the mother of five-year-old Bentley shot her own show with MTV, but unfortunately, the network wasn't impressed with the series and ended up scrapping the footage.

“MTV originally wanted to film a Southern version of The Hills starring Maci as the ‘Southern Lauren Conrad,’” an insider revealed to Life & Style. “The show was going to be centered around Maci and include other characters, like her ex, Ryan Edwards, and his girlfriend at the time, Dalis Connell.”

Considering Edwards and Connell broke up at the end of 2012, Bookout's spinoff series was likely something MTV hoped could follow up the then-defunct Teen Mom, which had been canceled after four seasons in late 2012 -- around the time Amber Portwood began her five-year prison sentence.

Either way, for whatever reason, MTV chose to pass on the Bookout series, instead opting for a set of Being specials featuring Bookout, Portwood, Farrah Abraham and Catelynn Lowell.

“They filmed for months, but ultimately, the show didn’t end up working out,” the insider added.

Although fans will never get to see Bookout's spinoff series, they will be seeing her and her family on MTV next year. According to an Aug. 13 report by Us Weekly, Bookout and the rest of the Teen Mom cast, aside from Abraham, will return to MTV for a fifth season of Teen Mom in 2015.
