Ray Rice will appeal his suspension from the NFL.

Ray Rice Is Going To Be "Strong For My Wife" Following Suspension

The former Baltimore Ravens running back is planning his appeal, and at the forefront of his case are alleged edits made by TMZ to the video, which showed Rice hitting his wife, Janay Palmer, in an Atlantic City, N.J. elevator earlier this year.

According to a Sept. 21 report by NBC Sports, Adam Schefter of ESPN reported Rice's central argument would be the NFL's decision to punish him based on an edited version of the incident, as opposed to the full, uncut footage. The site also claimed the Associated Press had reported on the existence of a longer video from the elevator.

In the TMZ video in question, Rice was seen hitting his wife with his left hand, causing her to fall headfirst into a railing before landing on the ground. However, the report claimed sources told Schefter the TMZ clip was “a cleaned-up, whittled down and condensed version” of what happened.

Although it is unclear what Rice will state actually happened, what the source did say was that the full video will likely be accessible during the investigation.

In response to the claims of editing, TMZ released a statement.

"He's right. We did edit the video ... and we made that point crystal clear in our original post -- the same post where we also INCLUDED the raw unedited version showing Rice KOing Janay Palmer," TMZ said. "The original raw video was jerky -- in that it would move forward and then in reverse every couple of frames ... so we removed the reverse frames."
