Mike "The Situation" Sorretino is in hot water with the IRS.

"The Situation" Makes His Reality TV Return

On Wednesday, reports surfaced, claiming the former Jersey Shore star owes taxes on nearly $9 million, which he made from 2010 to 2012. In a seven-count indictment, Mike was charged with two counts of filing false tax returns. His brother, Marc, was charged with three counts of the same charge.

"According to the indictment, Michael and Marc Sorrentino filed false tax returns that incorrectly reported millions made from promotions and appearances," U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman told Us Weekly in a Sept. 24 statement. "The brothers allegedly also claimed costly clothes and cars as business expenses and funneled company money into personal accounts. The law is absolutely clear: telling the truth to the IRS is not optional."

"The Situation" Arrested At Family's Tanning Salon

This isn't the first time Mike has been in trouble with the law. Over the summer, Mike was arrested at his family's tanning salon in New Jersey after a "fist fight" with his brother, Frank. During their argument, Mike accused Frank of "not running the store correctly, so I had to go in there and clean house—in more ways than one." The following month, Mike was sentenced to 12 weeks of anger management.

Mike "faces up to 11 years in prison and fines totaling $600,000," NJ.com reported, adding his brother Marc "is facing up to 14 years in prison."

During a court appearance on Wednesday, Mike pled not guilty to the charges brought against him. After the hearing, he told press, "The situation will sort itself out."

Mike and Marc will be arraigned on Oct. 6.
